Galdrakarlinn í OZ (The Wizard of OZ) – music from the The Reykjavík City Theater play
It is a great pleasure for 12 Tónar to continue the successful relationship with The Reykjavík City Theater. In 2009 the co-operation kicked off with the release of the CD with the music from the very popular Söngvaseiður (The Sound of Music). Tens of thousands saw the play and the CD did well, selling over 5000 copies.
In 2010 the music from another icelandic play, Gauragangur, featuring music written by Ný dönsk was released, and now, in 2011, the music from the classic movie The Wizard of OZ, which translates as "Galdrakarlinn í OZ". A host of excellent musicians and actors appear in the play. Kristjana Stefánsdóttir – a well known jazz and blues singer – is the musical director and arranger, as well as producing the recording. The legendary icelandic singer Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson makes a special appearance, singing the classic Over the Rainbow in a lovely arrangement by Kristjana.
For the many collectors of The Wizard of OZ, this is a real treat!
